Huawei's business in India suffered a big jolt early this year when the Indian government refused to clear further telecom equipment imports from China citing security concerns. Indian telecom operators like the Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices depends largely on this Chinese vendor for telecom gears and the announcement by the Indian Government on security grounds did stand as a result of delayed network rollout plans.
The Indian government had recently circulated draft regulations on proposed measures to address security concerns. As per the draft regulations, all telecom gear makers, interested to do business in India, will have to deposit source codes and detailed design of all their products and services, into a government-controlled escrow account to comply with the new draft guidelines.
With Huawei's promise to comply with the draft regulations posed by the Indian government, India can be now hopeful to see the network plan rolling out soon in the country.
